Protecting Your Hair In The Winter

Keeping your Hair Moisturized and Protected During The Winter

As Winter approaches, it is Essential to remember to keep your hair in a protected state! You want to prevent brittle, broken or extremely dry hair with the change in weather. If you have your hair in a protective style make sure you moisturize your scalp often to keep the hair nourished! Be aware of frequent wash and go's during the winter season so that you don't mutilate the moisture your hair should hold. Increasing your nutrient , protein and vitamin intake is also essential to natural hair growth during the cold season. Keep your ends clipped to prevent damage to healthy hair.

Deep condition with a moderate amount of heat every so often so that  you can lock in and maintain moisture; but also limit the amount of heat you use on your hair to prevent damage.

You may remember one of the blogs I created earlier in the year about the no heat challenge I did. This is the best time to try it. You simply just avoid as much heat as you can for 4-6 months.

Here are tips on different protective styles you can try out for winter.

  • Crochet

  • Box Braids

  • Two Strand Twists (with or without weave)

  • Corn Rows

  • Faux Locs

  • Wigs
